FACTS ABOUT INDIAN CINEMA



Today’s largest film production industry was started in the year 1910 and the first featured movie was Dadasaheb Phalke’s, Silent movie, Raja Harishchandra. 

By the year 1930, the Bollywood industry has produced more than 300 movies and the first sound movie, Ardeshir Irani’s Alam Ara was produced in the year 1931. 



Before Independent India, the Film Industry was closely linked with Lahore Film Industry currently known as Lollywood Industry of Pakistan. After partition many Many actors, filmmakers and musicians from the Lahore industry, Calcutta film industry began migrating to Bombay; as a result, Bombay became the center of Hindi-Urdu film production in the Republic of India after partition. 

The  Bollywood cinema, formerly, as Bombay Cinema is a portmanteau of “BOMBAY” and “HOLLYWOOD”. Bollywood does not have a physical place like Hollywood; it’s name is criticized by some film journalists and critics of the industry.

Bollywood industry has three ages; 

Golden Age is considered from late 1940s to 1960 for producing critically acclaimed Hindi movies. These films were based on a few themes such as social themes which concentrated on working class life, urban and rural life of India. 

The Second Age, from 1970s to 1980s is well known as Classical Bollywood as the Hindi Cinema was dominant and stagnant for the musical romantic films. The movies which were produced in this era were full of masala which made Amitabh Bachchan ji the superstar of the industry. 



The ongoing age of the industry New Bollywood started from the year 1980 had some declination due to increase in violence, decrease in music quality and increase in video piracy. But it took a hike from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak starring Amir Khan. 

Till the year 2000 most of the actors have achieved a successful career and now the Bollywood is giving the best movies with a new generation. 

Ancient Indian epics such as Mahabharat, Ramayana, Sanskrit Drama, Traditional Folk Theater, Parsi Theater, Hollywood musicals, western musical television has had an increasing influence in the Bollywood industry.

 TYPES OF LENS


The standard lens is the basic lens used in the camera and is considered as the basic type of lenses. The lens has a mid-range focal length of around 50 mm. This type of lens has an angle of view which is as equal as a human’s capacity of viewing.

Macro Lens

The macro lens is considered another important lens when it comes to types of lenses. Macro lenses is used to take close up shots. The construction of these lenses in a way that they sharpen the picture than the standard lens.

Telephoto Lens

We must have seen the long lens a journalist carries! That is right, the long lens is called a telephoto lens. Such a telephoto lens is considered the most important lens among the types of lenses. This lens is used by a photographer to click the shots at the moderately far distance.

Wide Angle Lens

You must have seen landscape photos that cover the maximum area in the picture. To cover the maximal area in the picture one needs to have a lens that has a feature of a wider angle with short focal length. 1 Learn

The Internet is a wonderful source of learning where you can learn ABC to XYZ of cinematography. The best way you can learn cinematography is by watching as many movies as you can. Be attentive to every single detail, camera angles, lighting, exposure, etc.



2 Get a DSLR

Photography is the foundation of cinematography. Through photography, you learn framing, composition, exposure, angles, etc.

3 master Your Camera

Get familiar with all the functions of your camera. Functions such as aperture and focus will help in improving your camerawork.

4 Plan Your Shoot

Plan your shoot well ahead of time. Get the story right. It should be captivating. Try visualizing your story even before you pick up your camera and start filming.

5 Know Your Location

Scout for the location well before the schedule, in daytime preferably. You will get to know about the lighting and natural colors in the surrounding of the location, and make your work easier. Check for background noises that may interfere with your filming.

6 Make Your Own Movies

The more you shoot the more you would get a hang of it. You'll get to know about lighting, composition, position, etc. Try shooting in every possible situation. Make sure your perception of a situation suits the tone and mood you're trying to capture in your lens.

What is a monologue
Monologue definition 
A monologue is represented in theatre as well as in literature. In literature, a monologue is represented in the form of poems and in theatre, a monologue is a solitary act. In this article, you will learn about a monologue in the theatre. 
In a theatre monologue, an actor presents a single character, most often expressing his or her thoughts to the audience. 
Types of a monologue 
Though, the definition of a monologue is very simple, “speaking alone”, it has various types, depending upon the expressing ways of a monologuist. Following are the types of monologue:- 
Soliloquy:- The most famous example of soliloquy would be the dramas written by Shakespeare where a monologuist gives a speech to himself, assuming there is no one listening to him or her, where the audience will actually be present. In this type of monologue,  a monologuist vocalizes his inner thoughts out loud.  
Dramatic Monologue:- Unlike soliloquy act in a dramatic monologue audience is considered by a monologuist. In this type, a speech is directly given to the audience. One of the most common examples of a dramatic monologue is the monologues performed in TV, theatres, and films. 
Internal Monologue:- Internal monologue is often seen in literature as a monologuist that expresses his inner thoughts to readers. When the internal type of monologue is represented in the theatre audience witness the character’s thoughts. In TV and films, the monologues are usually spoken by a character behind the screen, the audience being able to hear his or her thoughts.

  1. Selection of a monologue!
A monologue has to express his thoughts to the audience so selecting a monologue is the most important factor. Choose a monologue that can help you give various expressions along with multiple tones.
